It’s always fun when developers try to mess with players by adding small details in a game that are just left unexplained and this is exactly what Epic Games is doing to fans of Fortnite Battle Royale. Just to add some spice to the competitive shooter, the developers just added more, smaller comets in the title’s skies. No one knows what they are for and the players are starting to freak out.
One of the biggest mysteries in Fortnite, which has yet to be explained by Epic, the comets have been a subject of debate and rumors for some time now. Most recently, player chatter about the matter intensified when even more of the burning celestial phenomena appeared, Kotaku reports.
Some are saying that the space rocks are going to impact somewhere around the game’s environment. The most popular subject of speculation is the Tilted Towers, which players are thinking would be the prime target of destruction if developers are thinking of erasing them. It would certainly make for an entertaining event, especially if the impact resulted in the death of any player in the vicinity.
If nothing else, however, this is serving to generate even more interest in the game than it is already getting. It’s certainly been getting plenty media coverage with Newsweek posting some of the most popular theories about the presence of the meteors and what they could mean for the game.
Naturally, Epic is keeping absolutely mum on the subject, choosing not to divulge any details or give any comments. Social media is going nuts over the event, so the developers are certainly getting plenty of attention over the feature. When asked about it, Epic even playfully deflected questions by saying such things as being unable to read the senders’ emails. This is quite the clever marketing tactic.
