There are a couple of games that gamers can get for free this week. First-person adventure /survival horror title “Amnesia: The Dark Descent” and the role-playing, action-adventure game “Crashlands” are available for free from Epic Games Store now.
‘Amnesia: The Dark Descent’
“Amnesia: The Dark Descent” is a first-person survival horror game that’s originally priced $20 on Steam. However, the title is available for free until May 7 on the platform, according to CNET.
The title was developed and published by Frictional Games. It was first released for PC on September 8, 2010, before making its way to PS4 on November 22, 2016, Xbox One on September 28, 2018, and Nintendo Switch on September 12, 2019.
The first-person survival horror game lets gamers play as Daniel. The player must manage the character’s sanity, which will be reduced if he stays in the dark for too long. Daniel must navigate Brennenburg Castle solving puzzles while avoiding various dangers.
A monster will chase Daniel when it sees him. The character has no means of fighting it off and can only survive a few attacks before ending up dying. The only method to survive is to run until the monster is out of sight. Hiding in the dark, where the monster can’t see Daniel, also works but players must be mindful that the character’s sanity decreases if he is kept in the dark for too long.
‘Crashlands’
Crashlands is an action-adventure role-playing game that is usually priced at $15. However, players can get it for free from the Epic Games store until May 7.
The game was developed and published Butterscotch Shenanigans and released in 2016. The game is also sometimes described as a “story-driven crafting game” as there are over 500 items that players can craft.
There are also a number of creatures that can be tamed. They will prove to be valuable sidekicks later on as the game offers a vast world that one can explore.
Gamers play as Flux Dabes in “Crashlands.” The character is a galactic tracker who suffers a setback after his latest shipment is hijacked. Stranded on an alien planet, players need to hone their crafting skills to survive.
