CD Projekt Red has opened the doors to the open beta of the “Gwent: The Witcher Card Game,” so everyone can finally try out the spin-off card game found in “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” title. This isn’t the end of the surprises, however, as the developers are also offering a free copy of “The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings” to those who participated in the card game’s closed beta.
Claiming the 2011 RPG featuring Geralt of Rivia requires just following a few steps, Gamespot reports. Eligible participants simply need to go to GOG.com, sign in with the account that they used to sign up for the closed beta of the “Gwent” card game, and mind the instructions that they are given as soon as they do.
It’s worth noting that this is a limited time offer and will end on May 29th, so players are definitely encouraged to act fast. Coming back to the open beta for the card game, CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski notes that this is a huge factor in determining how well the game is going to be received. It’s also an important step in finalizing the new offer.
"I'm extra curious how all of the community feedback we've incorporated will resonate with both current players and those who're just starting,” Iwinski said. "Please keep the feedback coming, we're listening!"
For those who aren’t familiar with “Gwent,” it’s basically a mini-game that was first introduced in the third installment of The Witcher franchise. It became a much bigger hit than anyone could have predicted, Forbes reports and even branched off to claim a special space of its own within the game’s universe.
CD Projekt Red is basically entering an already crowded space with its offer thanks to titles like Hearthstone by Blizzard. One of “Gwent’s” biggest advantages, however, is that millions of players already know it and love it from the main games.
