With there being very few details about “GTA 6” coming out, it’s only natural that fans and publications would be forced to come up with their own predictions with regards to what it will be about. Considering the rising trend of video game companies focusing on multiplayer titles, there are now worries that the success of “GTA V: Online” will scrap story mode from the next game.
As Dexerto recently brought up, there are concerns that the majority of Rockstar’s focus in making “GTA 6” will be on the multiplayer aspect. From a financial standpoint, this makes sense since “GTA V: Online” is still highly profitable, even now. This is what is currently worrying many fans, especially those who are playing “GTA” games for the story.
It would be bad enough of most of the attention that the developer's place on “GTA 6” would be on the online multiplayer, neglecting the story, in the process. The worst case scenario would be if Rockstar decides that it doesn’t need a single player, at all. The sad part is that it would be right to think so since the success of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” has made it clear that the absence of story mode means nothing.
The game will still sell and with a title as highly anticipated as “GTA 6,” there is no doubt that it would be a hit among casual gamers. Only hardcore fans will likely have anything to say about the game not having any kind of story mode that can be played offline. If the company does decide to implement such a strategy, it will have officially entered the same sphere as EA.
For now, though, these are still groundless concerns that don’t yet have any basis in factual evidence. Gamers will simply have to wait for “GTA 6” to be announced, which is speculated to occur in 2020.
