“Genshin Impact” developer miHoYo recently held an online stream for the game’s next major update. Aside from revealing details about the new content coming in version 3.0, the studio also announced that it would implement a new regular schedule for the release of future game updates.
Some fans likely already know that “Genshin Impact” version 3.0 is slated to go live on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Previous updates are released every six weeks, but the adjustment will shorten that period to just five weeks. That means version 3.1 of the game is scheduled to launch on Sept. 28. Versions 3.2 and 3.3 will be released on Nov. 2 and Dec. 7, respectively.
“In future Versions 3.0 – 3.2, the version duration will be adjusted to 5 weeks,” miHoYo said in a blog post. “At the same time, the project team will adjust the version content plan accordingly, without reducing the gameplay content of each version.”
Due to the changes in the regular update schedule, miHoYo also adjusted the required Battle Pass XP to reach a new level. During “Genshin Impact” versions 3.0 to 3.2, players will only need 900 Battle Pass XP (instead of 1,000) to level up.
Not all “Genshin Impact” players are happy about the schedule adjustment, but others speculate that these changes were made to compensate for delays in previous updates. Since miHoYo specifically said these changes would be applied in versions 3.0 to 3.2, the six-week gap between updates could likely be reinstated in future versions of the game.
With “Genshin Impact” version 3.0 being a major update for the game, players can expect more new content to arrive next week. Some of the highlights in the next version are the all-new region called Sumeru and the new elemental type Dendro.
Two of the new characters arriving in “Genshin Impact” version 3.0 are Dendro-type skills, namely the botany researcher Tighnari (5-star) and the trainee ranger Collei (4-star). The third new character will be the 4-star Electro-type merchant named Dori. miHoYo also confirmed that returning characters for this patch would include Zhongli, Ganyu, and Kokomi.
