Police officers were injured during youth demonstrations in Germany, while a suspect was arrested in Frankfurt after shops were looted, Anadolu Agency reported, amid opposition to public spending cuts and compulsory military service.

The agency said police seized two firearms in Frankfurt and described unrest in several cities. It placed the looting and firearms seizure in Frankfurt.

Before the demonstrations, organizers planned rallies for Oct. 31 in 31 German cities. EconoTimes previously reported that opposition to reductions in education and social services and compulsory military service were among the stated issues in its report on the 31-city plan.

Anadolu's account of the plans described participants as ages 14 to 30 and said rallies were planned in Berlin and 30 other cities. The 31-city tally was 10 above the figure in an earlier EconoTimes report, which also covered police injuries during the demonstrations.
