CLEARWATER, Fla., Feb. 22, 2018 -- On Wednesday, February 28th, at 6:30pm, the Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), a mental health watchdog group established by the Church of Scientology, will hold a seminar led by local attorney Carmen Miller. Ms. Miller, a former assistant public defender for Tampa. Ms. Miller will explain the Advance Mental Health Directive (AMHD) and how to use it to protect your rights in the case that you are labeled with a mental disorder and deemed legally incompetent. Ms. Miller will also cover the Baker Act and how to protect yourself and your children from psychiatric abuse of this law. The seminar will be held at CCHR Florida’s headquarters, 109 N Fort Harrison Avenue in downtown Clearwater.

“I want to fight for the little guy against the big guy and make sure the little guy’s voice is heard,” said Miller. “That is why I became a lawyer.”
“In 2016, over 32,000 children were incarcerated under the Baker Act in a mental facility without meeting the criteria, and in many cases without their parent’s consent or knowledge,” said Samuel Guillard, the Executive Director CCHR Florida. “We’re putting on this seminar so everyone can know they do have rights and we can prevent psychiatric abuse. It’s time we put a stop to this.”
About CCHR:
CCHR is a non-profit mental health watchdog that was founded by the Church of Scientology and psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz in 1969. CCHR Florida’s mission is to eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protection.
Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, always an advocate for those abused by the psychiatric industry, described the terror of psychiatric imprisonment in an article March 1969: “Thousands and thousands are seized without process of law, every week, over the ‘free world’ tortured, castrated, killed. All in the name of ‘mental health.’”
