Global Geo-political Series: China says it will never allow chaos or war in Korean peninsula

As both the leaders of North Korea and the United States escalated war of words, China said that it will never allow chaos or war at its doorstep. Tensions escalated earlier this week in the peninsula as North Korea fired an intermediate range ballistic missile that flew through the airspace of japan and traveled 2700km before plunging into the sea. North Korean news agency KCNA announce that supreme leader Kim Jong-Un was personally present during the test and called the test a prelude to containing Guam and said more test are likely to come.

In response, the US President Donald Trump condemned the test in a White House statement and said all options are on the table. He also tweeted that time for talks with North Korea is over.

In response to all these war rhetoric, in his monthly news briefing, defense ministry spokesman Ren Guoqiang said that China will never allow war and chaos at its doorstep in the Korean peninsula. Chinese foreign ministry also rebuked United States for not making efforts for peace talks, ““They are the loudest when it comes to sanctions, but nowhere to be found when it comes to making efforts to promote peace talks. They want nothing to do with responsibility”.
