Global Geo-political Series: Turkey leans more towards Russia, away from United States

The biggest legacy that President Barrack Obama would be remembered for is his failed foreign policies. Under his reign China emerged as a more prominent force in the Geopolitical arena, ISIS became a global threat and many traditional allies such as the Philippines changed camp and moved further away from the United States. Turkey has been such a failure for Mr. Obama, which has now better ties with the Russians than the Americans, despite the fact that Turkey shot down a Russian jet in Syria in November 2015.

In recent days, the Turks have accepted air power help from the Russians in their fight against ISIS, while the country has continuously declined support from the US. Russia has conducted several airstrikes in support of the Turkish military fighting in Al Bab, Syria. The Turks have been fighting to expel ISIS from al-Bab Syria and despite taking heavy casualties; they repeatedly turned down U.S. offers to airstrike supports. Instead, they have turned to the Russians for support.

It is now up to the new administration to mend these foreign policy disasters of the Team Obama.
