The Google Pixel 3 XL is set for release tomorrow, Oct. 9, but the unveiling is expected to be a lackluster one. The reason for this is that the device is one of the most leaked smartphones on the market to date.
Indeed, months before its release, the Google Pixel 3 XL has been extensively covered by multiple publications showing the specs and design of the device. As such, excitement isn’t particularly at its zenith at the moment, although the unveiling tomorrow will undoubtedly pull a substantial crowd all the same.
What smartphone enthusiasts are eager to learn is if the leaks will indeed prove to be true. A plethora of complaints has already made waves online after the Google Pixel 3 XL leaks started circulating. One of the most prominent complaints out there is the choice of design by the company, particularly the huge and deep notch of this upcoming smartphone.
Users have been complaining about the trend of outfitting a device with a notch due to it blocking some of the display when a clip is being played. But even though the community has been quite vocal about its distaste for this design, the company still gave the Google Pixel 3 XL a notch.
Of course, Google didn’t just place it there to piss people off. Supposedly, the notch of the Google Pixel 3 XL will provide a functionality called “Super Selfies” with f/1.8 and f/2.2 apertures.
Another complaint is the decision of outfitting the Google Pixel 3 XL with 4GB worth of RAM. It’s believed that a lower RAM is correlated to the performance decline of a smartphone after eight to 10 months of use.
However, all of these depend on whether the leaks are indeed true. Google has been quite reserved regarding this issue since the rumors are claiming that someone from the company itself is responsible for this early outing of the Google Pixel 3 XL.
It’s speculated that the company will have a hard time selling the Google Pixel 3 XL if the leaks turn out to be real. But all of the complaints are also expected to taper off if Google manages to outdo itself in the camera department of the device.
The previous version of this flagship has been hailed as having the best camera that’s been given to a smartphone. And if the Google Pixel 3 XL outshines its predecessor on the camera side of things, then it will likely outweigh the complaints regarding the notch and the RAM.
