The notch in the Google Pixel 3 XL can be a little bit annoying at times because it blocks a portion of the screen and it doesn’t look good. Of course, some people don’t mind, but perhaps it may be time to complain when the flagship smartphone starts to sprout a second notch.
As noted by Android Police, the appearance of a digital notch on the right side of the screen has created some confusion for Google Pixel 3 XL users. It is an odd, harmless glitch. And instead of getting annoyed, users seem to find it hilarious.
“It’s theorized that the issue is related to a feature that allows the Pixel 3 XL’s notch to be hidden by placing black bars alongside the cutout—these ‘second notches’ are appearing at the side of the phone because of the glitch,” Rob Thubron said in his report for Android Police. “Thankfully, some Reddit users say just switching the phone between portrait and landscape modes will make the second notch disappear when the screen refreshes. Others claim that restarting the Pixel 3 XL is the only way to correct the software issue,” he continued.
Google has already confirmed to Android Police that a fix for the bug is “coming soon,” so there is no need to worry. In any case, the additional notch glitch is definitely less serious than the other bugs that have been plaguing the Google Pixel 3 XL since it hit the market.
Aside from the notch issue, users have also been complaining about photos not saving, background apps closing suddenly, and the poor audio quality in videos. These glitches will likely turn off potential buyers who don’t want to deal with them right now. Furthermore, Google will have to fix these bugs if they want to keep their Google Pixel 3 XL users happy.
