Google unveiled its latest flagship Smartphones Nexus 5X and 6P during its Nexus event in San Francisco. Needless to say, it’s one of the most awaited events for gadget lovers all over the world.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that there are now 1.4 billion active Android devices around the world, reports CNET.
David Burke, VP Engineering (Android) at Google, introduced the new Nexus lineup, saying the range represented the "latest Android software built into the most innovative hardware", meant to deliver "Android as Google designed it."
Nexus 6P is an all-metal phone built by Huawei and comes with the latest Android version, Marshmallow. Its price starts from $499 for the 32GB model. It is the first phone from the search engine giant that has a fingerprint scanner. Its specifications include:
5.7-inch AMOLED with a pixel resolution of 2,560x1,440
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 64-bit Octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz
- 3GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB storage options
- 12.3 MP rear camera which is capable of recording 4k video at 30fps
- 8-megapixel front-facing camera
- USB Type-C port for charging the 3,450 mAh battery.
Nexus 5X was also launched at the event. Priced at $379, it is similar to the 6P, but has plastic-body and is built by LG. It features the same 12.3MP rear camera, a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. Its specifications include:
- 5.2-inch display
- Snapdragon 808 1.8 GHz hexa-core 64-bit processor
- 2GB of RAM with 16GB or 32GB storage options
- 2700 mAh battery
- 5 MP front camera
Google also announced Nexus Protect, its answer to Apple Care +, for both the Nexus 5X and 6P. It will offer two years of coverage for "mechanical breakdown” and will also cover the latest Nexus phones for accidental damage — also for two years.
