Google recently announced its latest mobile app called “Trips” and it is poised to be the best travel app to date. Not only does it help the modern continent-hopper with keeping track of flights and accommodations before leaving, they can also continually organize their trip once they land in their destination. What’s more, “Trips” is free to download and it can actually function without an internet connection.
The “Trips” app is primarily geared towards travelers who are planning on exploring places they have never been before, The Verge reports, and it’s available for both Android and iOS devices. “Trips” helps organize everything from plane tickets to booking accommodations. The app also provides excellent guides for over 200 cities. Finally, it can also make certain recommendations for certain local sites and amenities based on the user’s Google search history.
According to Google Vice President of product management, Richard Holden, “Trips” took two years to create and is the culmination of the company’s efforts at refining its travel offerings. Google has been making changes to its search engine, improving their users’ ability to search for destinations, book flights, and reserve hotel accommodations.
This all-encompassing power of the biggest search engine and web browser powerhouse in the world has allowed it to have a significant amount of information that it is using to power “Trips,” Time notes. Now, users only have to tap a button to see every local destination of note that is near their location.
Although missing certain features such as issuing alerts in cases when flights are cancelled or delayed, “Trips” is still considered a worthy solution due to its efficiency. Users can plan out trips with all the relevant information they could ask for, from the time it takes to arrive at a destination to the contact number of any place they want to visit.
