“Grimm” is a show that can go from fun and lighthearted, to downright dark and depressing at a drop of a hat. Seasons 4 and 5 exemplified this clearly, and there doesn’t to be any hesitation to make beloved characters into enemies or hated enemies into sympathetic figures. However, will season 6 finally cross that invisible line and make Diana the main villain?
For those who don’t know, Diana is the daughter of on and off baddie Adalind and Nick’s police captain, Sean Renard. Adalind was full hexenbiest when she had Diana while Sean is half hexenbiest, half Royal. As a result, Diana is expected to have powers beyond that of normal hexenbiests. She could even be stronger than Eve/Juliette.
Now, according to a piece done by Inquistr, Diana can be a wild card since she is not displaying any outright animosity towards Nick and his group; she even helped them kill Bonaparte. However, she also wants her biological parents to stay together so that she will have a complete family. This complicates things for Nick since he is intending to duke it out with Sean once again in season 6 in order take back Adalind and their son.
David Giuntoli said as much in an interview with the Collider. Giuntoli explained the motivations behind Nick’s actions and why he wants to go after Sean.
"Captain's doing some illicit things and calling my woman, and he knew about the assassination, he's on Nick's poop list now,” he said. “So a smackdown is coming, a second smackdown, as we did that in Season 2. Maybe there is a little 'Grimm: Civil War' going down.”
In the event that the confrontation between the two men ends with Sean’s death, Diana could turn to the dark side really fast. She could then set herself against the Grimm.
NBC has confirmed “Grimm” Season 6 but has not issued a release date for the premiere.
