Many gamers are eagerly waiting for the release of “Halo Infinite.” Most of the gameplay details are still under wraps at the moment, but fans can expect that to change in the coming months. After a year since the game was announced, developers confirmed that it will once again make an appearance at the E3 2019 in June.
In an interview with IGN Unfiltered, head of 343 Industries Bonnie Ross was asked about the possible gameplay improvements in “Halo Infinite.” She refused to spoil any details as she wanted to leave these details a surprise until their E3 2019 presentation.
Ross also teased that Chris Lee, who leads the “Halo Infinite” team, will likely reveal some of the changes and improvements in the “design perspective” of the game. It was previously confirmed that 343 Industries is building the game using the new game engine Slipspace.
While the developers are mum on the specific details of “Halo Infinite,” Ross said, “We want to have a team that can do their best creative work within our engine. So it really was taking the time off and, as we announced the Slipspace Engine last year, it is all to make sure we're building the platform for the future of ‘Halo.’" She also referred to the upcoming game as a “spiritual reboot” for the franchise and promised fans that they “want to do more with ‘Halo.’”
Since “Halo Infinite” was announced, rumors followed that it will be a launch title for the next-generation Xbox console. It was also reported that this console could be unveiled in E3 2019 but will not be available until 2020. This was then taken as a possible release date window for the game as well.
A fan recently asked franchise director Frank O’Connor about this matter and he confirmed that “Halo Infinite” will be compatible with the current base platform of Xbox One. However, another possibility is that “Halo Infinite” could be launched alongside the next-generation console while also being playable on earlier platforms.
