Hanwha Life Insurance said about 700 people have participated in its financial education pilot in Indonesia since June, an effort to help teenagers manage money and navigate digital financial risks.
The South Korean insurer said 600 of the participants are young people. Its count includes school students, university students and teachers.
The one-year pilot, called Future Plus Indonesia, is run with Save the Children Indonesia in Bandung. It serves students ages 15 to 18 at six vocational schools, using a model in which selected students are expected to teach their peers.
Hanwha Life said in its October update that 10 students at each school had been selected as peer education leaders. University student mentors from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) support the program, and teachers receive training to deliver the material.
The curriculum covers money habits, risk management and insurance basics. The partners describe protection from online scams, illegal lending and online gambling as a broader aim of the program, rather than separate confirmed lessons on each risk.
At the June launch, the partners cited a gap between young people’s access to financial services and their financial knowledge. Save the Children Indonesia Senior Manager Inclusive Youth Empowerment and Urban Programming Evie Woro Yulianti called financial literacy “a critical protective mechanism for youth.”
Hanwha Life has previously taken financial education overseas. It said a program launched in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, in 2025 trained university students to teach young people, women and other financially vulnerable groups.
The insurer also has a longer record of financial education in South Korea. According to Hanwha Life, its financial education programs in South Korea have reached 117,652 students across 1,002 schools over the past 12 years.
Hanwha Life plans to launch a teaching module at BFN Fest, a government-supported Indonesian fintech festival, in November. It then plans to invite 20 outstanding university student participants to South Korea for further training in January 2027.
