It’s been over ten years, and some fans still can’t move on from the fact that “High School Musical 4” never saw the light of day. Despite being slated for a fourth entry; Disney didn’t follow through with its plans in creating more films for the franchise.
Until now, there’s still no explanation why “High School Musical 4” didn’t happen. However, the original casts not wanting to reprise their respective roles may have contributed to it.
Ashley Tisdale – the actress who was supposed to play Sharpay in “High School Musical 4” – said that while she’s thankful to be part of the franchise, she’s not interested in revisiting the character anymore. The reason behind this sentiment was due to the difficulty of landing other roles as her career is pretty much tied up with the trilogy. A decade ago, at least.
Since then, Tisdale has appeared in other films and explored characters that showcased different facets of her acting chops. Vanessa Hudgens holds the same sentiment as Tisdale and said she, too, is uninterested in appearing for a possible “High School Musical 4.”
And even if she was offered a role for the upcoming TV series based on the franchise, she still wouldn’t do it on account that she’s too mature to play a high school student. Zac Efron, on the other hand, said that he’s “absolutely okay” to do a cameo, although he admitted that he wasn’t aware that a TV show had been made in lieu of “High School Musical 4,” Extra reported.
As for Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman, the three has yet to weigh in on the spin-off series and whether or not they’d make a cameo if the opportunity arises. The fact of the matter is that “High School Musical 4” will unlikely happen given that the original casts have moved on from that chapter in their lives. But that’s totally okay. After all, the trilogy did provide awesome memories for those who grew up watching the franchise. And as hardcore fans would say, Wildcats for life.
