Honda plans to invest R$3.3 billion in its Manaus motorcycle operation during 2026–2030, targeting annual installed capacity of 2.3 million units by 2029 and projecting 2,000 additional jobs.

Two plants are planned for the Manaus complex, each with a motorcycle assembly line and supporting manufacturing processes. Honda expects the facilities to support higher production and says the expansion will contribute to economic and social development in the region.

The Manaus site handles all Honda motorcycle production in Brazil, the company says. It produces 20 models and exports to 19 countries, including the United States, Australia and Mexico. Honda reports that cumulative output has exceeded 33 million motorcycles over 50 years of operation, which began in 1976. That total reflects production over time; the 2.3 million figure is a future annual-capacity target.

Honda linked the investment to growth in Brazil’s motorcycle market and demand for agile, affordable mobility. It said the spending is intended to improve the competitiveness of its local operation and help it meet demand. Honda Motor Co. President, CEO and Representative Director Toshihiro Mibe said the company would keep investing in Brazil, “contributing to mobility and economic development in local communities.”

The new commitment follows a separate R$1.6 billion investment Honda announced in 2025 for its Brazilian motorcycle business. That earlier plan set a goal of 1.6 million motorcycles in annual capacity by 2026. Honda says the latest spending is additional to the earlier amount and sets a higher capacity target for 2029.

Honda gave the investment amount in reais. Reuters calculated its equivalent at $602.2 million using a rate of 5.4798 reais per U.S. dollar. The investment period runs through 2030, with 2029 as the company’s stated capacity milestone.
