Last year, Huawei announced that the P50 series is getting a global launch in 2022. The company will soon deliver that promise following its recent confirmation that the Huawei P50 Pro and Huawei P50 Pocket will be released outside China in the coming days.
The official Twitter page for Huawei Malaysia (via GSMArena) recently announced that the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket will be launched in the country soon. In separate posts, the company said both devices are “Coming soon on 12 January 2022,” suggesting that the phones could arrive in stores as soon as this week.

The same Twitter posts also contain links that redirect to the official website of Huawei Malaysia, showing that both P50 Pro and P50 Pocket have been listed. A “Buy” button already appears on both phones’ landing pages, but ordering them is not yet available.
Upon clicking the Buy buttons, though, tech fans will find what configurations are slated to be shipped globally. For the P50 Pro, there is only one memory option available — 8GB + 256GB — and two color choices, Black and Gold. There are more variants listed for the P50 Pocket. Currently, the page shows options for 12GB + 512GB and 8GB + 256GB configurations, along with Gold and White colorways.
Huawei is still keeping the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket prices under wraps. The website shows a price of RM9,999,999 for both devices, which is clearly just a placeholder because it is equivalent to around $2.38 million. But it is worth noting that the introductory prices in China of the P50 Pro 8GB + 256GB was ¥6,488 (~$1,018). The P50 Pocket’s starting pricing is at ¥8,988 (~$1,410), while its 12GB + 512GB variant costs ¥10,988 (~$1,724).
As for the technical specifications, the Huawei Malaysia listings confirm that the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket launching outside China (at least in Malaysia) will be powered by Snapdragon 888 4G. The P50 Pro was initially launched in China with Kirin 9000.
The P50 Pro specs page, interestingly, does not have information on its operating system. But the P50 Pocket page shows it will run on EMUI 12, instead of the Harmony OS 2.
