IKEA is not just known for its affordable, well-designed furniture, but regular customers also know about its famous meatballs. Now, the Swedish furniture retail company is aware of the popularity of its meatballs, so it has come up with an idea to reward its loyal customers.
According to CNN Business, IKEA created the meatball scented candles branded as HUVUDROLL Meatball scented candles to give away to its loyal customers. They love the smell of the famous cafeteria dish, so now they can smell it anytime through the said item, even at their homes.
The company is holding the IKEA Family event for the store’s loyalty club members. This is a sweepstake event to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the free loyalty program, and the HUVUDROLL Meatball scented candles are to be given away as a prize.
It was said that the company is hoping that the candle giveaway will entice more customers to register for a loyalty card. The card itself already offers many perks and rewards that shoppers can enjoy, so the meatball scented candles are just an additional item to gain more sign-ups.
Based on the report, IKEA will pick 1,925 loyalty club members, and they will be the lucky winners who can claim their HUVUDROLL meatball candles. The event will run until Aug. 22 only.
"Staying at home can be hard, but we want to help make everyone's lives that little bit easier and more enjoyable,” the company said as it announced the meatball candle sweepstake. “Bon appétit or, smaklig måltid, as we say in Sweden!"
Meanwhile, IKEA got into the food business and made it possible for the meatball to be sold in its stores. It was revealed that the furniture retail company branched out to restaurant biz due to what its founder Ingvar Kamprad has said.
Apparently, his words: "It's difficult to do business with someone on an empty stomach" has led to a new business venture for the firm, as per the IKEA Highlights report in 2016. Today, customers not just go to IKEA stores to shop for things, but many are also visiting for food in its restaurants inside the stores.
