InterDigital’s EdgeHaul™ solution recognized for outstanding innovation and demonstration of millimeter wave wireless communication technologies for cellular and broadband markets
WILMINGTON, Del., April 03, 2017 -- InterDigital, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company, today announced that it has won the 2017 Corporate Technology Innovation Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Philadelphia Section for its EdgeHaul™ solution.
The IEEE Philadelphia Section Corporate Innovation Award recognizes a company or corporation for its outstanding contribution to electrotechnology. The award emphasizes developments, projects, products, and other accomplishments that have been innovative and successful.
InterDigital’s EdgeHaul™ solution is a small cell wireless mesh backhaul system operating in the 60 GHz unlicensed band to deliver multi-gigabit-per-second speeds with low latency. It is both an immediate solution for wireless gigabit connectivity for applications such as residential broadband access and Carrier Wi-Fi cable extensions, and a platform for future 5G wireless transport.
“We’re honored to receive this prestigious recognition from the IEEE,” said Dr. Robert DiFazio, Vice President, InterDigital Labs. “This award underscores the outstanding research and development efforts of our engineers and exemplifies a keen understanding of how leading edge technology can address the ever increasing market need for ultra-high-capacity, low-cost wireless communications.”
The award will be presented on Saturday, April 29th at the IEEE Philadelphia Section Awards Banquet and Gala at the Union League of Philadelphia.
