The IRGC said fires remained aboard four ships its navy targeted while they transferred oil between vessels in the northern Arabian Gulf.

The Guard said the ships were transferring oil from one vessel to another and had followed routes Iran does not permit. It said flames remained aboard all four after the operation.

The Guard blamed rising maritime incidents on what it called U.S. encouragement for ships to use a route it said was mined.

The Guard warned that continued U.S. encouragement would broaden Iran’s response to include American bases in the region. EconoTimes previously covered the IRGC’s warning about U.S. bases entering the Hormuz standoff.

Iran said July 12 that it had closed the Strait of Hormuz again after U.S. attacks resumed July 8.
