Only some can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast with roasted turkey, a spread of sides, and classic desserts like pumpkin or apple pie. According to Chowhound, for those working, traveling, or unable to gather with loved ones, Thanksgiving can be challenging to find a meal. Many grocery stores, including large chains like Trader Joe’s and Walmart, tend to close on the holiday, though some may remain open with limited hours. Sit-down restaurants may also be an option in bigger cities, though they often offer a limited and sometimes pricey prix fixe menu.
Fast food is often the most accessible choice for those seeking convenience, especially those with tight schedules. McDonald's, in particular, is a popular go-to, and the chain generally opens on Thanksgiving. However, availability isn’t guaranteed—over 90% of McDonald's locations in the U.S. are operated by franchisees, who have the final say on whether or not to open on November 28.
