Dakota Johnson just revealed that she was pulling double duty training for her dancing role in “Suspiria” when she and leading man Jamie Dornan were working on “Fifty Shades Freed.”
Production of “Fifty Shades Freed,” which aired last February, overlapped with Johnson's “Suspiria,” which recently competed at the Venice Film Festival for a Golden Lion. Dakota Johnson played the lead role in the horror movie, which is a remake of the 1977 Italian horror film of the same title. “Suspiria” garnered mixed reactions from the crown at the film festival, with some reviewers noting the more visceral nature of the remake compared to the original film as one of its more controversial components.
The original “Suspiria” starred Jessica Harper as Suzy Bannion, who also had a cameo role in the 2018 remake as a character named Anke. The movie remake tells the tale of a young dance prodigy, played by Dakota Johnson, who is taken in by an academy in Berlin. The students soon discover that the academy has a dark secret that is connected to its students' ability to dance.
In an interview with Reuters, Dakota Johnson reveals that her dance training in preparation for “Suspiria” took at least six months while she was shooting with Jamie Dornan for “Fifty Shades Freed” in Vancouver. Johnson would have sessions with her trainer before or after her day's work filming “Fifty Shades.”
Fans of Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan can catch the lead stars of the “Fifty Shades” series in their other upcoming projects. Dakota Johnson will be starring alongside Jeff Bridges and Chris Hemsworth in “Bad Times at the El Royale” which is due to come out on Oct 12. Jamie Dornan will be co-starring with Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton in the “Robin Hood” reboot, which will be in theaters by Nov. 21.
