Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin said Democrats still face a major political struggle after the Nov. 3 midterms, as the party prepares to take control of both chambers in the next Congress.
Raskin said, “We’re still in the fight of our lives,” during a CBS News Sunday Morning conversation with former Republican Governor Larry Hogan. CBS News national correspondent Robert Costa spoke with the two men about the election’s implications and Democrats’ approach to President Trump during his lame-duck period.
The segment said Democrats had taken both chambers and framed the result as a major setback for Republicans. That shift is due in 2027, when the next Congress begins.
Final seat totals were still unsettled. NPR reported Thursday that Senate races in Alaska and Mississippi, along with several House contests, had not been called, leaving the final composition of Congress unresolved.
