“Jane the Virgin” season 5 is coming soon and it was revealed that it will be the series’ finale. The show will be ending after five seasons and it is expected to explain most of the loose ends, especially how Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) turned out to be alive.
It can be recalled that Jane’s husband died in season 3. Suddenly, at the end of season 4, he just showed up when Jane (Gina Rodriguez) was already about to fully fall in love with Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni).
Finale Storyline
Likewise, it was an unbelievable cliffhanger in the fourth season when Jane just managed to move on from her husband’s death then a surprise came. She also just fell in love again then all of a sudden her life became complicated when the husband she thought had been dead showed up in her apartment.
What happened? Where was he in all those years? Will Gina forgive him for his absence? And lastly, what will happen now with her relationship with Rafael? The love triangle is certainly back on.
In her recent chat with The Huffington Post, Gina Rodriguez confirmed the upcoming love triangle storyline between Michael, Jane, and Rafael.
“I am preparing to direct my first episode and I can tell you that it starts and ends the same way: the love triangle with Jane being shared, and to choose its path as it always has done,” she said when asked about what can be expected in “Jane the Virgin” season 5. The actress went on to say, “She has always understood with honesty and love, where she wanted her life to go. It will end in a way that we all felt filled and complete.”
“Jane the Virgin” showrunner and creator Jennie Snyder Urman further teased that the upcoming installment will show Jane and Rafael’s relationship becoming shaky as Michael is back in the picture. In her interview with Deadline, Synder hinted that “Jane the Virgin” season 5 is going to end in a wedding. However, she does not want to reveal if that means Jane is marrying Rafael since she already married Michael before.
The other notable thing that she shared about what can be expected in “Jane the Virgin” season 5 is its theme. She mentioned that it will be “full circle,” which is very suitable if this is indeed the series’ final installment.
At any rate, while it was reported that “Jane the Virgin” season 5 is the end, Snyder Urman said that she cannot deny or confirm this at this time. With her statement, a sixth season may still happen.
Air Date
“Jane the Virgin” season 5 has no definite air date yet but it was predicted that it may be released with a different schedule. A new season of the show usually premieres in autumn but this time, it is said that it may arrive in January 2019.
