“Jessica Jones” season 3 is expected to premiere this year and it could happen as early as summer, according to reports. Meanwhile, one of the highly speculated plots is about Trish (Rachael Taylor) and the possibility of her becoming a total superhero.
The filming for the third season began in June 2018 and there has not been a report of it wrapping up. However, Inverse reported that a Disney representative might have inadvertently confirmed “Jessica Jones” season 3 is coming out in the third fiscal quarter of 2019, which means sometime in April, May, and June.
The same report noted that Disney sees “Jessica Jones” season 3 as one of the major sources of revenues at that point. Considering that “Avengers: Endgame” will premiere in late April, the Netflix series could keep that momentum for Disney by getting released in the following months.
The second season ended with sort of a gratifying story for Jessica (Krysten Ritter) as she is seen joining Arocho (J. R. Ramirez) and his son (Kevin Chacon) for dinner. This implies that the titular hero is slowly opening herself up to normalcy. Whether she goes back to being a conflicted woman is still a mystery in “Jessica Jones” season 3.
Meanwhile, Trish saw a different ending in season 2. After thinking that the experiment to give her superpowers failed, she found out that she acquired heightened senses beyond the normal level for humans. This opens up the possibility that she could become a superhero in “Jessica Jones” season 3.
Trish’s character is based on Marvel superhero Hellcat so some fans might think that the Netflix series would adopt this plotline. Note, however, that “Jessica Jones” season 3 and its previous installments have greatly diverted from the comic book plots. Last December a set photo was shared on Reddit showing Trish in a blue prison suit with shackles around her waist, wrists, and ankles. This could be a hint that she will turn to the bad side.
