John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett are now engaged, and this surprised many people since the pair only started courtship in June. The engagement was announced on July 25, exactly a month after admitting they were exclusively dating.
With that timeframe, this is certainly the Duggar family’s fastest courtship record. John-David’s younger brother Josiah, who tied the knot on June 30 after six weeks of courtship and four months of engagement, was the first to have that record.
The announcement, posted on the Duggar family’s webpage reads, “We are thrilled to announce the engagement of John-David and Abbie! They are a wonderful match and make a beautiful couple!”
TLC also congratulated John-David and his bride-to-be Abbie Burnett on their engagement. The TV network also shared how the former popped the question.
They revealed that John-David, who is a pilot, wanted it to be unique so he chose a hangar with an old airplane as the venue for his proposal. The 28-year-old’s engagement to his girlfriend comes after his 21-year-old brother Josiah married Lauren Swanson last month.
In any case, the Duggars are not a typical family as they have a very conservative belief when it comes to dating. In fact, when someone in the family dates someone, they have to follow strict rules like they cannot go out without a chaperone, and even holding hands is prohibited.
They are also known to reserve their first kiss for their wedding day. Moreover, John-David Duggar has a large family and this could be because they do not use birth control and are driven to have as many children as they can.
Now that John-David Duggar is getting married soon, his twin sister, Jana, is the only remaining member of the family who is in her 20s and still single. For the Duggars, this is new because most of them married at an early age.
Stay tuned for another Duggar wedding. In the meantime, watch “Counting On” when it returns on July 30 at 9 p.m. on TLC.
