COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 14, 2016 -- John E. Sestina, founder and president of John E. Sestina and Company, a private professional fee-only financial planning firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, announced today that company ownership has been transitioned to a group of key planners within the firm. John Sestina will remain with the company in a Chairman role, to act as an advisor and to provide insights to clients as needed. This announcement comes shortly after Sestina celebrated his 50th year in business in 2015.
“The significance of this announcement is not that ownership is changing, but to celebrate the completion of a succession plan for our firm,” Sestina said. “My life goal has been to advocate for fee-only financial planning and to create a standard in this industry. This is one more way to show our clients and peers that we practice what we preach.”
The new owners have all been with the firm for several years and met specific requirements. Stephen Lukan, CFP®, and Tyler Cook, CFP®, will assume new roles as managing partners.
“Succession planning is the continuity of leadership and management when one owner leaves and another takes over,” said Lukan, managing partner of John E. Sestina and Company. “John is still very much involved with the company, acting similar to an Emeritus role.”
Widely acknowledged as the “father of fee-only financial planning,” Sestina has been helping clients manage to be wealthy for a half century. John E. Sestina and Company counsels individual clients on an objective fee-only basis. Sestina’s record of visionary innovation has supported his mission to establish fee-only financial planning as an independent profession. Sestina is due out with a book later this month titled Planning a Successful Future, published by Wiley.
“Succession planning is a key strategy that we discuss with all of our business owners. Without a plan, clients can be unprepared for the biggest financial event of their lives,” said Cook, managing partner of John E. Sestina and Company. “We are excited to use this announcement to emphasize the importance of a comprehensive financial plan.”
