The first half of 2019 has been riddled with divorce rumors for Prince William and Kate Middleton. It might be making some fans of the royal family wonder what will happen to the Duchess of Cambridge if these gossips ever come true.

Kate Middleton, Prince William: The split rumors and alleged mistress

Earlier this year, it was reported that Middleton stopped being friends with Rose Handbury. The original report did not offer a specific reason that caused the alleged feud. However, it did not take long before tabloids were filled with headlines that Middleton and Prince William are on the brink of separation and Handbury was accused of being the third-party involved in the drama.

It is important to note that a solid proof has yet to surface to support the speculations. There was also a report that both Middleton and Hanbury considered suing those who publish these false claims. Middleton and Prince William have also been regularly seen together on official engagements and family vacations without any sign of strains in their marriage.

However, in an imagined situation where the divorce rumors would come true, Middleton is likely to experience drastic changes. For one, Cheat Sheet reports she would have to move out of their current residence at the Kensington Palace while Prince William will have to support her financially.

Middleton was given the Duchess of Cambridge title upon marrying Prince William. He is second in line to succeed Queen Elizabeth II, next to his father, Prince Charles. Once Prince William becomes the King of the United Kingdom, Middleton is expected to become queen consort. But at the event of a divorce, the same report suggests that Her Majesty may or may not let her keep her current titles.

Kate Middleton, Prince William: How did they meet

When Prince William and Middleton got married in 2011, millions of people around the world tuned in on their wedding ceremony and read through many reports of how their love story started. One likely reason for this affinity is that Middleton was a commoner who was college friends with the royal prince before they started dating. Simply put, it was like a story from a modern-day fairy tale.

Prince William and Kate Middleton dated for several years and even broke up for some time before getting engaged in November 2010.
