Kate Middleton and Prince William’s marriage is not perfect and in fact, they have been rocked by a series of cheating rumors for months and the stories are still afloat up to this time. The Duke of Cambridge has been accused of having an extra-marital affair with a family friend named Rose Hanbury.
The rumors of the affair started when the Duchess of Cambridge was reported to have severed her ties with her long-time friend which is Hanbury. It was said that the two had a falling out and she instructed her husband to take Hanbury out of their circle of friends. While this was not proven, many things would happen if Kate Middleton and Prince William decided to divorce at one point and here they are.
What will happen if the Duke and Duchess parted ways?
The royal family is not new to cheating and divorce scandals as this has been happening for centuries. In fact, in the current Monarchy alone which is being headed by Queen Elizabeth, three out of her four children are divorced after controversial marriages.
If Middleton and Prince William will split, they may also experience some of the things that happened to Prince Charles, Prince Andrew and Princess Anne when they dissolved their respective marriages. For instance, the Duchess will be given a new home inside the U.K. where she can live with her three children.
Children's custody
Because she and Prince William have three children, she will be allowed to live with them but she cannot take them out of the country without the approval from the Buckingham Palace. Even if she is sharing child custody with the prince, there are rules that Kate Middleton must follow with regards to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Lifetime financial support from Prince William
Middleton will receive financial support from her ex-husband and the amount will depend on how long they were married prior to the divorce. This will secure the duchess good living condition even if she is no longer part of the royal family. She will also be stripped of her royal title but she may be allowed to keep her duchess name.
Queen Elizabeth’s interference
But then again, the divorce between Prince William and Kate Middleton may not happen as Queen Elizabeth may prevent it from happening. As Express reported, Her Majesty has had enough of divorces in her family and would not want another one. She saw the damages that these separations had caused in the Monarchy so she will be stricter with the younger royal couples.
"The Queen is the head of the Church and so from a point of principle she is opposed to royal divorces,” the magazine quoted a palace aide as saying. “She does not want to name names, but she is adamant that there are going to be no further royal divorces during her reign."
