Following days of rumors and hearsays, it would seem that a team swap between the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors involving Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan is reportedly coming close to a conclusion. The trade is supposedly at its end stage, but it would seem that neither Kawhi Leonard nor DeMar DeRozan is all that excited about the arrangement.
League sources have told ESPN that a deal was being finalized between the two teams, which will see “an agreement on principle” with regards to the swap around Wednesday. Both Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan are apparently already aware of the impending trade and neither is particularly enthusiastic about the idea.
This is a trade deal that has apparently been two weeks in the making. There were several trade packages exchanged but ultimately, it would seem that this is the one that both parties are comfortable with.
It would also appear that this particular agreement caught DeMar DeRozan by surprise. The basketball superstar was supposedly told a few weeks ago that he would not be traded. As it turns out, this is not the case and he is not happy about it. He expressed as much via an Instagram post that has since been deleted for obvious reasons.
"Be told one thing & the outcome another. Can't trust em. Ain't no loyalty in this game. Sell you out quick for a little bit of nothing... Soon you'll understand... Don't disturb..." the Instagram post had read.
Other players gave their opinions on the trade involving Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan as well, with Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams not mincing words in his views. In a tweet, he made it clear that he saw this arrangement as a betrayal.
“I’m hurt bro. I’m hurt. My dog gave that city and organization his heart and soul. He was loyal to the soil and got stabbed in the back,” the tweet reads.
