Bayerischer Rundfunk said a webcam at Germany’s Kehlsteinhaus showed no flames early Saturday, though officials had not said that firefighting was over at the historic site in Bavaria.

At 3:15 a.m. EDT Saturday (07:15 UTC), the broadcaster described the building as badly damaged.

Police said an alarm sounded at the Kehlsteinhaus about 3:15 p.m. EDT Friday (19:15 UTC) and that the incident is the subject of a criminal investigation. A person was provisionally detained, but police have not confirmed a connection to the fire. Police also said no one was found inside and no injuries were known. EconoTimes previously covered the detention and police inquiry.

The Kehlsteinhaus was built in 1938 to host Nazi officials. It now houses a restaurant and is classified as a historical monument.
