‘Kingdom Hearts 3’ DLC Update: Could Moana's Motunui and Zootopia be the Next Game Worlds?

Fans of “Kingdom Hearts 3” are hoping that Square Enix will release a post-launch downloadable content (DLC). Motunui from “Moana” and Zootopia from the same name movie are some of the requested Disney worlds to be added in the game.

The partnership between Disney Pixar and Square Enix obviously went all-out for “Kingdom Hearts 3.” The former allowed the use of Arendelle, along with Queen Elsa and other characters, as one of the main worlds in the game based on Disney’s highly successful animated film “Frozen.”

With that, hoping for Moana to appear in a “Kingdom Hearts 3” DLC might not be a far-fetched request. As seen in the movie, led by Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson, Motunui and its neighboring islands provided brilliant fantasy locations that would be a great extension of Sora’s universe.

If Square Enix decides to add Zootopia to “Kingdom Hearts 3” through a DLC, they will have many inspirations to choose from. In the 2016 movie, Zootopia is a metropolis with several and very diverse districts including the Sahara Square, Tundratown, and the Rainforest District.

Disney is the best partner for the “Kingdom Hearts” series since it owns a deep bench of highly popular fictional worlds including those that have superheroes and characters from “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” So there are suggestions that Square Enix might want to capitalize on it by introducing “Kingdom Hearts 3” DLCs based on Marvel titles and “Star Wars.”

The release of DLCs and Season Passes is a more recent trend in the gaming industry that took place years after “Kingdom Hearts 2.” This means the franchise did not really have much experience in this area simply because it was not yet common before “Kingdom Hearts 3.” But, luckily, game director Tetsuya Nomura previously said his team is not dismissing the possibility of working on a post-launch content for “Kingdom Hearts 3.”

“Nothing is set in stone, and I’m afraid we can’t go into details, but I have told the team: Just be prepared to be able to accommodate for something like that. We can’t suddenly develop a system where we’re accommodating for downloadable content. So it’s not confirming or denying either way, but just so that the development team will be prepared, I have informed them of making the preparations,” the “Kingdom Hearts 3” director previously said a possible DLC.
