RAMSEY, NJ, Feb. 29, 2016 -- Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that Rick Taylor, president and chief operating officer for Konica Minolta, has been awarded the Ken Venturi "Spirit of Giving" Award.
Created to honor former US Golf Champion Ken Venturi, and his lifelong commitment to be an inspiring and motivating force for young golfers, the award was presented by golf professional, Eddie Merrins, at the Friends of Golf (FOG) event on February 23rd at the Bel Air Country Club in Bel Air, California.
"I am proud to receive this recognition alongside the previous distinguished recipients who have supported the future generation of golfers," says Taylor. "I am truly devoted to providing the opportunity for amateur golfers to play competitively regardless of their economic circumstances. I look forward to continuing to partner with FOG on their mission to offer access, resources and support to young golfers."
Earlier this year, Konica Minolta announced an agreement with FOG to be a presenting sponsor for The Ben Hogan Award. The award is presented annually to the top men's college golfer taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions during the 12-month period dating from the previous award's banquet.
Taylor is committed to giving back and making a difference as seen through the company's continual participation as a Presenting Sponsor of the 2015 American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Weekend for the past twenty years. The tournament funds the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grant at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, which is a current client of Konica Minolta.
Under Taylor's leadership, Konica Minolta became the "Official Multifunction Printer of the PGA TOUR." In addition, Konica Minolta has partnered with CBS Sports bringing the popular Konica Minolta bizhub® SwingVision Camera to select PGA TOUR® broadcasts. The PGA TOUR surpassed $2 billion in all-time charitable giving and supports their respective communities every year which include over 3,000 local and national charitable organizations.
In 2012, FOG created the inaugural "Spirit of Giving" Award to honor Venturi. Through the years, he graciously contributed his time and energy to support the mission of FOG by attending the event every year, conducting clinics for the players, and attracting many of the top professional golfers to contribute their time and interest to fostering good will for the young amateur and college golfer. Each year, FOG honors another individual who represents similar values and devotes their life to giving and inspiring young golfers everywhere.
Past recipients include: Jim Nantz, sportscaster, CBS Sports, John Wooden, basketball player and UCLA coach, Peter Ueberroth, chairman of the US Olympic Committee and baseball commissioner, Greg W. Penske, president of Penske Motor Group and Ely Callaway, founder (posthumously) & Chip Brewer, CEO of Callaway Golf.
