SAN DIEGO, April 14, 2016 -- LRAD Corporation (NASDAQ: LRAD), the world's leading provider of acoustic hailing devices ("AHDs") and advanced mass notification systems, today announced a $490,000 LRAD 1000Xi systems and accessories order for a Southeast Asian Coast Guard agency. Scheduled for delivery this fiscal year, this is the latest order from a country equipping its homeland security and defense forces with LRAD's award winning, long range communications capabilities.
"Many nations are experiencing escalating territorial water incursions and homeland security threats," noted Tom Brown, President and Chief Executive Officer of LRAD Corporation. "LRAD's attention commanding warning tones and voice broadcasts determine the intent of boats not responding to radio calls, establish large standoff zones around Coast Guard vessels, and provide enhanced communication during coastal defense operations. LRAD systems ensure commands and instructions in any language are clearly delivered, heard and understood over wind, engine and background noise."
In addition to serving with the country's naval force on national defense missions, this Coast Guard agency is tasked with protecting the country's extensive coast line as well as internal and territorial waters from drug smuggling, human trafficking, terrorism, the dumping of industrial or toxic waste; enforcing fishing, maritime and environmental protection laws; providing marine assistance and conducting search and rescue operations.
LRAD systems are an essential component in all Escalation of Force protocols and have proven highly effective in resolving uncertain situations and saving lives on both sides of the Long Range Acoustic Device®.
LRAD systems are in use in more than 70 countries around the world and are the only acoustic hailing devices that meet all U.S. Military requirements.
