CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (2nd November) and cover positions up to Tuesday (30th October). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions; however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.
Kindly note, in some cases, numbers are rounded to nearest decimal.
- Gold – Position shifted from long and decreasing
The net long positions declined last week by 16,194 contracts that pushed the net position to +13.2K contracts.
- Copper – Net position long and decreasing
The net long positions declined sharply last week, and by 8,680 contracts to +0.7K contracts.
- Silver – Net position short and increasing
The short positions rose last week and by 3,291 contracts to -8.5K contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Speculators reduced long positions for the 15th time in 19 weeks, and by 22,640 contracts, which brought the net positions to +432.6K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and increasing
Short positions declined last week and by 8,315 contracts last week to -4.9K contracts.
