CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (12th October) and cover positions up to Tuesday (9th October). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions; however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

- Gold – Net position short and increasing
Short positions rose for a fourth consecutive week. The net short positions got increased by 16,353 contracts to -38.2K contracts.
- Copper – Net position long and decreasing
The net long positions declined last week by 3,728 contracts to +8.2K contracts.
- Silver – Net position short and increasing
The short positions rose last week and by 4,752 contracts to -22.2K contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Speculators reduced long positions for the 12th time in 16 weeks, and by 20,858 contracts, which brought the net positions to +528K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing
Short positions declined for the 8th time in 11 weeks and by 21,471 contracts last week to -4.6K contracts.
