CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (23rd September) and cover positions up to Tuesday (20th September). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions, however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

- Gold – Net position long and decreasing
Gold traders sharply decreased their net long positions in gold. The net long position decreased by 29,234 contracts to +256.2K contracts.
- Copper – Net position short and decreasing
Net short positions decreased for second consecutive week. The net-shorts decreased by 12,142 contracts to -13.2K contracts.
- Silver – Net position long and increasing
The net long position in silver rose marginally after a decline last week. The net longs increased by 1,067 contracts to +82.6K contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Crude oil saw a sharp decrease in net long position. The net long positions decreased by 34,429 contracts to +278.9K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing
Natural gas net-shorts decreased marginally last week. Net-short positions declined by 1,738 contracts to -75.4K contracts.
