Like other male Korean stars, Lee Min Ho also enlisted to serve in their country’s military for a couple of years. Fans of the movie and TV series personality is now excited to learn that his service will soon be over and he could get back to the limelight.
Reports have it that Lee, who is represented by MYM Entertainment, will be officially discharged from the military on April 25. However, it might take a while before fans see him in another movie or TV project again.
Lee enlisted for Korea’s mandatory military service in May 2017 and initially served as a public service officer. He started his military training about a year later that reportedly ended in April 2018.
In South Korea, all men in the age of 19-25 are required to serve in the military that explains why Lee Min Ho and other Hallyu stars are obliged to take a break from their careers at some point. Those who serve in non-active duty have to finish at least 24 months of service. Women, on the other hand, can voluntary to join the military.
Considering that Lee will officially still be in the military until April 25, there are no official updates yet whether he will immediately go back to work. However, one of the most anticipated comeback projects for Lee is “The Heirs 2” with onscreen partner Park Shin Hye.
“The Heirs” was a 2013 TV series that aired on SBS where he played the role of rich heir Kim Tan. He was supposedly going to marry an heiress, but he eventually falls in love with Park’s Eun Sang. It is rumored that the show’s sequel is slated to premiere before 2019 ends, but until Lee Min Ho officially comes back to his acting career, it is best to take this report with a grain of salt.
