Once you’ve taken TEFL courses and become a certified TEFL teacher, one of the biggest challenges you’ll face afterward is landing a TEFL job.
Although there are ample job opportunities out there – thanks to the huge global demand for English-proficient teachers – finding a job has never been easy for teachers in this industry.
As counterintuitive as that may sound, it’s the reality!
And the reason is that most teachers don't know where to look.
If you’re a TEFL certified teacher, but you’ve been struggling to land a well-paying job, the chances are you’ve not been looking in the right places.
Luckily for you, we’ve compiled a list of websites where you can find TEFL job position adverts from time to time.
Make sure you bookmark each of these websites on your browser so that you can keep checking them for updates regularly.
Check with your TEFL course provider
The first place to look when you’re looking for TEFL job opportunities online is the website of your TEFL course provider.
Before coming out here to look for TEFL jobs, I want to assume you’ve already taken some relevant TEFL courses and have become certified. So, these providers are where you want to begin your hunt online.
Note: If you haven’t, please see to it that you do that first. You can take professional Premier TEFL courses here.
Although it’s not the responsibility of your course provider to find you a job, you can take advantage of the fact that most TEFL course providers enjoy healthy relationships with many language schools.
Of course, you will have to do awesomely well in your courses (if possible, become of their best students) if you ever hope to one day get recommended by your course provider.
Once you’re certified by them, you can simply reach out to them explaining your desire to work in any of the local language schools they are in affiliation with or have strong relationships with.
TEFL.net
Another great resource material is TEFL.net.
If you're looking for a TEFL job online, this is a place you want to check from time to time.
Thankfully, it’s a free site, which means you won’t be paying anything to enjoy its awesome benefits.
In addition to its endless job listings, TEFL.net also offers aspiring teachers a wealth of materials for boosting their chances of getting a job, as well as improving their on-the-work skills.
Some of these resource materials include pages on lesson plans, TEFL course tips, job advice, etc.
Dave’s ESL café
Dave’s ESL café is somewhat infamous in the TEFL world and often the advised go-to for TEFL job hunters.
Although you might be turned off by the tons of pages and pages of links you’ll find on the site, – it is still one of the most comprehensive lists of TEFL jobs on the net.
Finally, it may interest you to know that most of the jobs advertised on Dave’s ESL café website are South Korean-centered.
Teach Away
Not only will you find TEFL/ESL teaching opportunities on the Teach Away job site, but you will also enjoy relevant career advice, job-scouting tips, and info regarding which countries pay the highest salaries for teaching English abroad.
ESL Base
No talks of TEFL/ESL job opportunities can ever be complete without a mention of ESL Base.
And that’s because of the tons of English teaching jobs available on the platform.
On ESL base, prospective teachers can search for jobs by country, and even sign up for job alerts so that they don’t miss any recent job update.
i-to-i
i-to-i connects both new and experienced certified TEFL teachers with a wealth of TEFL teaching opportunities abroad in over 20 countries.
JET programme
Jet programme is another site to look when scouring the internet for TEFL jobs. However, it should be noted that this site is for job openings in Japan.
Asia Teaching Jobs
There’s no denying the fact that Asia has the highest demand for TEFL teachers.
So, if you’re really serious about securing a TEFL job position, you should be narrowing your search down to Asian countries.
That said, Asiateachingjobs.com is your best bet to find TEFL jobs that are specifically dedicated to Asia.
Unlike some of the aforementioned sites, Asiateachingjobs.com is relatively easy to navigate, and its web structure is pleasing to the eyes, meaning you won’t have a problem scouring the site for jobs.
To search for jobs on the site, you can easily search through the positions by selecting the country or entering keywords.
