‘Lucifer’ season 2’s episode 17, titled “Sympathy for the Goddess,” will follow Charlotte as she works with Chloe and Lucifer to investigate a murder and find the missing piece of the shattered Flaming Sword.
The lengthy synopsis for “Sympathy for the Goddess” posted on TV Guide reads, “The man who had the final piece of the Flaming Sword is murdered and the piece goes missing, so Mom (Tricia Helfer) teams with Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer (Tom Ellis) to track down the killer.
When Lucifer gets sidelined, Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) recruits him to help save Dr. Linda's (Rachael Harris) endangered career and confronts him about the secrets he's keeping.”
The promo for episode 17 opens to Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) explaining the origins of the Flaming Sword. The dark-winged angel revealed that God split the weapon into three pieces following Lucifer’s rebellion when he feared that his son would use it against him.
One of the pieces became the angel Azrael’s Blade of Death and another became the Medallion of Life, which was left on Earth. The third piece is said to bind all three parts together.
It was then revealed that the man who was in possession of the third piece was recently murdered. Lucifer and Chloe will have to work together with Charlotte in order to find the killer and retrieve the missing piece of the Flaming Sword. It will be interesting to see what this unusual alliance will bring to the table.
Meanwhile, Tom Ellis teased that Lucifer will be in for a shock in the final episodes of season 2. According to Huffington Post, Ellis revealed that the final two episodes will focus on Charlotte as she attempts to return to Heaven with her sons.
Ellis said, “Our final two episodes of this season, it’s all about mom’s plan to get back to Heaven and taking her sons with her and how that kind of unravels. And then the very, very end of this season, Lucifer is in for a bit of a shock.”
‘Lucifer’ season 2’s episode 17, titled “Sympathy for the Goddess,” is scheduled to air on Fox on May 22, 2017. It was directed by Louis Milito and written by Joe Henderson. It will be followed by episode 18, titled "The Good, the Bad, and the Crispy," directed by Karen Gaviola and scheduled to be released on May 29.
