“Lucifer” season 4 started filming this week. This step made it official that the series is coming back after being canceled by Fox earlier this year.
It can be recalled that Fox decided not to air “Lucifer” after just three seasons. Although it had many viewers, the network explained that it was not doing good in the economics department. In simpler words, it was canceled not because of poor ratings but it was due to the fact that Fox was not getting enough profit.
Of course, fans were devastated and they launched petitions for “Lucifer” season 4 to happen. Seeing that it had lots of followers, Netflix immediately rescued the show and promised the viewers that it will air the next season.
Filming
Now, the cast and crew did not waste time and recently got back to filming. On Monday, the cast of “Lucifer” season 4 announced that they are back to work through a video. In the clip, the cast also thanked the fans for their passionate support.
“The fans did it!” The cast said together as they celebrate the immediate revival of their show.

Cast
As reported by EconoTimes, lead stars Tom Ellis (Lucifer Morningstar) and Lauren German (Detective Chloe Decker) are returning to reprise their roles in the upcoming new season. The support cast members that include Kevin Alejandro (Detective Dan Espinoza), DB Woodside (Amenadiel), Rachael Harris (Dr. Linda Martin), Lesley-Ann Brandt (Mazikeen) and Aimee Garcia (Ella Lopez) are all coming back as well.
Air Date
“Lucifer” season 4 is said to premiere in mid-2019. It will also be shorter compared to the regular show run. It was also announced earlier that the episodes are going to be split into two in order to fit with Netflix’s programming of limiting a show to 10 episodes per season.
"We were going to have two parts to it anyway, so we'll just tell a really strong, gnarly first part," Digital Spy quoted co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich as saying.
