Apple has yet to make an announcement when the MacBook Pro 2019 will be released. However, judging by the Cupertino-based company’s previous moves, this new iteration might hit the shelves on the summer of this year.
The MacBook Pro 2017 came out in July that year, while the MacBook Pro 2018 came out in June a year after. If Apple follows its recent pattern, the MacBook Pro 2019 might see a summer release date, MacRumors reported.
Of course, given that the company hasn’t announced anything yet, it’s best to remain skeptical for now. This is especially true since there are rumors going around that Apple is interested in outfitting the MacBook Pro 2019 with Intel’s upcoming 10nm Sunny Cove chips, MacRumors reported. The chip has been announced to come out later this year.
If Apple plans to include the Sunny Cove into the 2019 variant, then the company will likely release the MacBook Pro 2019 after the chip hits the market. And speaking of rumors, there’s also the narrative making its round on the web claiming that Apple is working on a 16-inch model, which will likely be given to the MacBook Pro lineup. What’s more, the 13-inch MacBook Pro variant is assumed to see an upgrade as well, with its RAM being bumped from 16GB to 32GB, Tech Radar reported.
A mini-LED display is also being discussed on the web, although it’s unlikely that this feature will make its way into the MacBook Pro 2019. While Apple is indeed trying to integrate this feature into their lineup, speculations would have it that it’s not until 2020 or 2021 that people will see this design shift. It’s also important to remember that the mini-LED tech that Apple is looking into isn’t the same as the micro-LED that it’s researching. This micro-LED technology isn’t expected to come out until 2023 at the earliest.
But even though this is the case, the abovementioned specs that’s like to be included in the MacBook Pro 2019 would be a sufficient upgrade this year. It’s been three years since Apple provided a major design improvement for this series and new hardware and a larger display is a welcome change for users.
