Just when Apple and fans thought that things couldn’t get any worse for the 2016 MacBook Pro, another nail is hammered into its coffin. The flagship notebook by the maker of the iPhone has always held a place in the list of recommendations by Consumer Reports. Due to battery issues that were found during trials, however, it has now lost that privilege.
According to the report that the resource released, Consumer Reports conducted several tests to see if the 2016 MacBook Pro, like its predecessors, deserved to get its recommendation. However, during the tests, it was found that the battery life of the unit varied significantly. This meant that there was an underlying issue that Apple had yet to address.
“The laptops did very well in measures of display quality and performance, but in terms of battery life, we found that the models varied dramatically from one trial to another,” the report reads. “As a result, these laptops are the first MacBooks not to receive recommended ratings from Consumer Reports.”
This is a huge blow to Apple, which always prided itself on quality products that allowed it to justify the exuberant prices of its laptops and smartphones. Ultimately, the decision to buy their products will rest on the consumers themselves. However, by losing the recommendation of Consumer Reports, it just lost a significant driving force to the appeal of its MacBook line.
On that note, it would seem that the group wasn’t the only party to notice the battery issues either, Mac Rumors reports. A considerable number of complaints from users with regards to the same unreliable battery life has been popping up, which means that a huge chunk of the MacBook line’s consumer base thinks that it is a big deal.
Apple tried to mollify said users with an update that removed the timer for the battery. It would seem that other changes have been made as well since there have been reports if improvement in that aspect. Unfortunately, it was simply too late.
