Major businesses in the U.S. have come out to express their utter shock and disapproval of what has taken place at the Capitol in Washington D.C. on Jan. 7. It was the day of the Congress’ meeting for the certification of Joe Biden’s win as the new president of America.
The Capitol “siege” allegedly incited by Trump
Donald Trump asked his followers to march to the Capitol to show that they also believe he won in the election. The protesters arrived with placards and banners stating the president was stripped of his presidency due to election fraud. They say that the votes were stolen, and they want Trump to stay.
However, the march turned ugly when they tried to break into the Capitol building. The mob forced their way inside and desecrated the place. They also entered offices, including Nancy Pelosi’s, and as they tried to enter the chamber where the meeting was to be held, the protesters broke many doors and windows.
The worst thing that happened was that someone died in the riot. The woman was shot in the chest as she was trying to break into the inner part of the Capitol building. The incident has been described as “insurgence” incited by Donald Trump.
Businesses want Trump to be expelled immediately
With the carnage, aside from politicians, the business sector also condemned the chaotic event that will now be forever part of US history. They want Donald Trump to be removed from office right now to preserve democracy, peace, and order.
The head of the business group in the U.S., representing around 14,000 companies such as Toyota Motors, Pfizer, and Exxon Mobil Corp, asked the officials to consider expelling Donald Trump even if he still has two weeks left in office.
The National Association of Manufacturers specifically called on Mike Pence and left, have been described as the business group’s strongest political declaration yet in this era. They condemn Trump’s actions and strongly expressed their stance.
“The outgoing president incited violence in an attempt to retain power, and any elected leader defending him is violating their oath to the Constitution and rejecting democracy in favor of anarchy.” Jay Timmons, CEO of NAM, said in a press release. “Pence should seriously consider working with the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to preserve democracy. This is not the vision of America that manufacturers believe in and work so hard to defend.”
