Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight are back on the news, and it continues to make headlines, especially after the latter released a video saying that he is working on their rematch. In the clip, the undefeated American boxer said that he is talking to investors in Japan so that the “Pacquaio-Mayweather 2” will happen.
Mayweather said in the video that he posted on his Instagram that it will be an exhibition game in Tokyo, Japan, and this is where the problem lies. This is because Pacquiao responded that he will not be on the ring with him unless it is a “real” fight. The Filipino boxer asked why it should be an exhibition only and said that Floyd’s suggestion is non-sense.
Has Pacman change his mind and agreed to an exhibition game?
In a new report that appeared on the Philippine Star, a Filipino journalist Salve Asis said that she heard that the Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather’s fight seems to be progressing well and almost a done deal already. Asis said that she got this information from someone close to Pacman. She overheard them talking about how the match may take place soon, and they are talking about the commissions now.
Then again, at this point, Pacquaio’s side has not released any comment, but if this is really true, then it means that the Philippines’ greatest boxer of all time has changed his mind about the game. Floyd Mayweather clearly said that he only wants an exhibition match so if they are saying that a match is happening then it is most likely just an exhibition game.
Mayweather is after the money
Mayweather only cares about the money, and this is why he is staging this event with Pacquaio since this is what the people want. However, apparently, he doesn’t want to put his belt on the line, and since he will earn in the same way as with the real fight, then this is the best that he could offer to the undying calls of his rematch with Pacman.
Previously, when Pacquaio challenged him after beating Keith Thurman in July, Floyd continued to brush it off and maintained the reason that he is retired so he can’t fight. Now he is the one initiating the talks with some Japanese investors, but the sad thing is - it’s all about the profits.
Arum urge Pacquiao to retire
Bob Arum, former Top Rank boss, commented on Manny Pacquaio’s retirement. He said that it is now time to fight with Floyd Mayweather again and he better retired if this will not be his next match.
He said that it is not worth it for Pacman to continue with the sport if he will not face Mayweather now because he is getting old already. “If he gets Mayweather, do that fight and retire,” Arum told World Boxing News via Manila Standard. “If he doesn’t get Mayweather he should retire. It’s not worth it for him to continue boxing.”
