With so many things going wrong with the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda and all the controversies that followed after launch, one would think that BioWare would do whatever it took to earn the trust of gamers once again. One of the things that could have done this is a single-player DLC similar to that of ME3’s Citadel. Unfortunately, the studio just confirmed that this was not going to happen, which will likely be the final nail in the game’s coffin.
As Forbes notes, the gaming community has suspected for a while that ME: A was not going to offer single-player DLCs, but this did not make BioWare’s admission any less painful. Fans of the franchise who waited for the game since 2013 were hoping that there would be some saving grace in the form of a high-quality expansion. Now, this hope has been officially quashed.
In a blog post, BioWare explained why it had decided to scrap any plans for single-player DLC. The studio also revealed that patch 1.10 would be the last update for the game. Any bugs or problems related to the game that remains after that will simply need to stay that way.
“Our last update, 1.10, was the final update for Mass Effect: Andromeda. There are no planned future patches for single-player or in-game story content,” the post reads. “In the coming weeks, our multiplayer team will provide details of their ongoing support and upcoming content, including new multiplayer missions, character kits, and what’s in store for N7 Day.”
Fans who still want to learn a little more about the game’s stories will only be able to do so via comic books and novels, which the developers are apparently still planning on releasing. It’s simply unfortunate that many of the title’s unfilled plot points and missing story lines can only be filled via mediums that many might not be able to enjoy.
