BioWare’s highly anticipated space adventure video game “Mass Effect: Andromeda” is already causing quite a bit of fuss among fans by virtue of its pedigree alone. Now, as more and more details come out, players are becoming even more excited. Among the most recent features to come out include meaningful side quests such as those found in “The Witcher 3,” and having the option to craft blades.
One of the biggest reasons for the success of the phenomenal hit from CD Projekt Red is the depth of many of its side quests, which is a rarity in video games. Practically each mission is different, with each Witcher contract offering a particular story that often challenges a player’s sense of justice. This is the kind of system that BioWare is intending to include in its next title, PC Gamer reports.
Speaking to the publication, Fabrice Condominas, a producer of “MEA” says that the company is putting more thought into what players will experience with the game’s side missions. This is good news for anyone who finds grind fests annoying, such as the case in many of “Dragon Age 3: Inquisition’s” side quests.
"We are approaching the completionist aspect very differently, because we've done and learned a lot from Inquisition," Condominas told the publication. "But we've also observed what other games have been doing, like The Witcher."
Aside from more effective content, BioWare is also giving players the option to craft melee weapons and guns in the game, The International Business Times reports. Players will also have to be careful about their choice in the dialogue system because it now comes with the caveat of putting a strain on the relationship that the main character has with their team.
The developers advise keeping the strain at a minimum because team members will reportedly be tasked to complete loyalty missions at a later part of the game. Depending on how angry the teammates have become, the results could be catastrophic.
