McDonald’s and Beyond Meat have teamed up again to rollout Double McPlant in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The fast-food chain introduced the McPlant burger with a single patty, and they are widely available in the said regions, but customers have been demanding for more.
Customers want a plant-based double patty burger, and they have been making this request for quite some time now. In response to the high demand, McDonald’s and Beyond Meat expanded their partnership to add the Double McPlant to the menu.
The addition of the said vegan burger will also widen the food choices for plant-based alternatives on McDonald’s menu. The company announced on Thursday, Dec. 29, that starting next week, the double patty burger will be available in its stores across the U.K. and Ireland.
The world-famous burger joint said that after the successful launch of its McPlant burger last year, it will now roll out a new version with double patties. Customers can try it out starting Jan. 4, 2023. The brand further said that the product that features Beyond Meat patties is its answer to the customers’ pleas.
As per Fox Business, the new Double McPlant burgers are completely plant-based, as these were cooked separately from other burgers and sandwiches. They also used utensils that are dedicated to cooking and preparation of his vegan burger only.
The launch of this new product came about a year after the McPlant Burger arrived in the countries and was officially introduced after months of testing. Other markets including the U.S. have also tested the vegan burger and became a hit as well.
In any case, the McDonald’s Double McPlant is served with two patties and double toppings. It is similar to the regular Big Mac and other burgers with two layers of meat and veggies.
It will be on a vegan sesame bun topped with vegan cheese, a special in-house vegan sandwich sauce. There will also be ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, tomato, and lettuce to complete the ultimate plant-based burger.
“McDonald’s UK and Ireland is excited to reveal the launch of the long-awaited and much-requested Double McPlant, in all UK & Ireland restaurants from Wednesday 4th January 2023,” the fast-food chain said in a press release. “Just in time for those taking part in Veganuary or those who just simply crave a tasty new burger from McDonald’s. The undeniably delicious McPlant, which took over three years to develop, features a patty co-created with Beyond Meat and has already proved wildly successful with customers since its launch in September 2021.”
